There should be a Grace above where Yura stands and a Wellspring nearby for higher/lower access to the river.

Due to its reach and less so its scaling, the Nagakiba is actually pretty useful.

I was just telling Saturo that I've done a (near) insane amount of 100% runs.

If you follow his quest, you eventually get the Nagakiba, but that's not until Altus Plateau.

Pretty hard at base level/upgrades.
